Simple ways to organize your audio files

Use a clear naming pattern

Pick one pattern and keep using it, such as date, project and version: 2026-10-31-interview-v2.mp3. Names like this sort neatly and are easy to search.

Separate originals from exports

Create one folder for each project, with separate folders for originals and finished exports. This helps you avoid editing or deleting the wrong version.

Add details to the file

Most audio apps let you add a title, artist and notes to a file. Taking a moment to fill these in makes your files easier to identify in any player.
